“Cambridge English: Key” or “Cambridge English: Key for Schools”: also known as KET is a basic English proficiency certification, which proves that you can communicate in English in simple situations. This test can prove that you have a good start to your English study.
The first level, the entry level: English entry test (or Key English Test, abbreviated as KET)
KET is a self-contained level test, which represents the most basic requirements for using English. This means candidates have the ability to deal with ordinary daily conversations in English at home and abroad through 200 hours of study. For those who have taken the Cambridge Young Learners English Test (Cambridge Young Learners English Tests) For test takers of level 1, 2, and 3, KET is a test to enter a higher level and adult stage. Language knowledge goal
Grammar: Two basic tenses (generally future tense and present perfect tense). Vocabulary: about 800 new words and phrases, topics include: hobbies, school courses, housework, food and drink, long-distance movement, language learning, holiday activities, animals, personality and emotions...
Language skills goals
Listening: able to understand continuous instructions and questions in learning activities, and respond appropriately. Be able to judge changes in the meaning of sentences according to changes in intonation. Be able to understand the plot development of simple stories, and understand the main characters and events.
Speaking: be able to communicate in English in classroom activities, be able to communicate briefly on familiar topics, be able to briefly describe something with the help of prompts (such as pictures, slides, objects, text, etc.) and be able to be guided by teachers to participate in role playing and other activities.
Reading: be able to use simple reference books initially, be able to read simple stories and short essays and grasp the main idea, be able to understand the sequence of events and character behavior in simple readings.
Writing: Can write or reply to simple greeting cards and invitation cards with reference to examples, can use phrases or sentences to describe series of pictures and write simple stories, can use phrases or simple sentences to write descriptions for pictures they create.
Exam time allocation
70-80 minutes for reading and writing, 20 minutes for listening, 8 minutes for oral examination.

The second level, the elementary level: Preliminary English Test (Preliminary English Test, abbreviated as PET)
PET is a self-contained level test. Candidates who have passed 380 hours of study should have the ability to handle daily affairs in English at home and abroad, and to communicate in English. The exam is also a necessary foundation for candidates who wish to take the higher level of Cambridge exams in the future.

Students in grades 5-6 who have completed Cambridge Junior One.
Language knowledge goal
Grammar: Adding three basic tenses (past progressive, present perfect, present perfect progressive, and past perfect); the passive voice of the present tense and the past tense; infinitives and gerunds; comparative levels of adverbs and superlative; attributive clause; indirect speech (object clause); second and third conditional sentences (subjunctive clauses).
Vocabulary: about 800 new words and phrases, topics include: environment, movies, disasters, music, medicine, information technology, internet...
Language skills goals
Listening: be able to understand normal speaking speed and familiar topics, to identify topics, and obtain main information, be able to complete tasks according to continuous instructions, be able to use context to overcome obstacles to new words and understand the general meaning.
Speaking: be able to elicit topics and have several rounds of conversation, be able to describe one’s own or others’ experiences in simple language with the help of teachers or according to pictures, be able to provide information on simple topics, be able to express simple opinions and participate in discussions.
Reading: Can find relevant information from simple articles, understand the general meaning, can guess the meaning of new words according to the context, can find out the theme of the article and understand the plot of the story.
Writing: Can write short paragraphs, such as simple instructions and rules, can collect and prepare materials according to writing requirements, can independently draft short essays, short messages, etc., and modify them under the guidance of teachers.
Exam time allocation
90 minutes for reading and writing, 30 minutes for listening, 10-12 minutes for oral test.
Level 3, independent level: First Certificate in English (FCE)
FCE is the third level of the Cambridge Certificate of English Test, and is one of the more important Cambridge exams.
It requires candidates to have the ability to use language independently, including mastering sufficient vocabulary, and the ability to organise basic language and communicate appropriately in different social situations. Those who pass the exam are usually able to use English effectively in the secretarial and management fields, in a variety of office environments.
The FCE exam, as an effective ability test for public liaison and office work, is widely recognised by foreign business and industry employers.
